Cummins helps U.S. retain the Walker Cup
The SWGA would like to congratulate two-time Southwestern Amateur participant Quade Cummins, who helped the U.S. win the 48th Walker Cup Match at Seminole Golf Club. Quade heads to NCAA postseason play where he will try to lead the Oklahoma Sooners to another NCAA title.
Brad Reeves wins the PAC-12 Championship
Congratulations to Brad Reeves of the University of Arizona who won the PAC-12 individual championship. Brad has competed in the last three Southwestern Amateurs with consistently high finishes. Go Wildcats.
Thanks to Joel Empie and Bill Lich for their service to the SWGA
Joel Empie and Bill Lich have retired after many years of service to the Southwestern Golf Association. Each received a commemorative plaque on November 4th recognizing their leadership and service.
Theegala Captures Australian Master of the Amateurs
Sahith Theegala ventured Down Under and conquered Victoria Golf Club under tough conditions to become the 1st American to win the Australian Master of the Amateurs tournament completed January 10, 2020. 2019 Southwestern Champ Hunter Ostrom Wins Again!
Our 2019 Southwestern Amateur champion Hunter Ostrom won his third amateur title by capturing the 63rd Eastern Amateur at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club in Portsmouth, Virginia. Ostrom came from five shots back to win a three-way sudden-death playoff. Read more….
