Jeneath Wong, who finished 12th at last year’s Southwestern Women’s Amateur, won the biggest event of her career with a dramatic flourish at Hoiana Shores Golf Club in Vietnam. The Pepperdine junior from Malaysia stuffed an iron shot to tap-in range on the par-3 17th, then pitched close again for birdie on the final hole to hold off Korea’s Soomin Oh by a single shot.
By winning the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific, Wong will receive numerous playing opportunities, including exemptions into three women’s professional majors and an invitation to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
