The prestigious Southwestern Amateur Golf Championships return to the Desert Mountain Club’s Outlaw Course from June 12-15, 2024. This year’s tournament marks the 109th year for the Men’s Division and the 4th year for the Women’s Division, featuring some of the best amateur golfers from around the country.
A Storied History
Founded in 1915, the Southwestern Amateur Golf Tournament is one of the oldest and most respected amateur golf events in the United States. Over the decades, it has showcased the talents of numerous golfers who have gone on to professional success. The tournament has been a springboard for future golf champions and continues to uphold its tradition of excellence. Notable past participants on the men’s side include professional stars Collin Morikawa, Bryson DeChambeau, Max Homa, J.T. Poston and Sahith Theegala. >> Men’s Field List and Pairings
On the women’s side, past participants Minori Nagano, Julia Misemer, Grace Summerhays, Zoe Campos, Monet Chun, Ting-Hsuan Huang, Ashley Menne and Leigh Chen have played and had success in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, US Women’s Amateur or US Women’s Open. Ashley Menne and Leigh Chen, both ranked in the top 100 amateur women of all ages, return as competitors to this year’s edition. >> Women’s Field List and Pairings
The Southwestern Amateur is played in a 72-hole stroke play format, with 144 top amateur golfers (72 men and 72 women) competing in separate divisions over four days. The event includes alternating morning and afternoon waves for the first two days, followed by a cut and a single morning wave for the final two days. Spectators are welcome. >> Tournament Schedule

This year marks the 4th edition of the Women’s Division, which is now a proud part of the Women’s Elite Amateur Golf Series. About Southwestern Golf Association
The tournament started in 1915 as a regional tournament for private club members to compete against the top amateurs from other southwestern golf clubs, the Southwestern Golf Association was organized in Douglas, Arizona. Beginning in 2013, The Southwestern Golf Association (SWGA) and Desert Mountain announced an agreement calling for the tournament to be at one of Desert Mountain’s six championship golf courses.
